TOP 10 THINGS TO DO

Don't Miss These Exciting Activities
Vacation Owners have told us that these are their top 10 ‘must do’ activities when staying at this resort.

1.

Golf the Rookery at Marco
Enjoy generous fairways, immaculate turf conditions and oversized, receptive greens at the Rookery at Marco Golf Course. If you’re looking to improve your game, receive expert instruction at the Faldo Golf Institute® by Marriott, or simply spend time at the 14-acre state-of-the-art practice facility. As a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, the Rookery at Marco brilliantly blends golf and nature to create a casual and relaxed atmosphere.

2.

Relax and play on the beach
Tigertail Public Beach is a beautiful white-sand beach open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset. It offers lots of amenities, including showers, restrooms, a children's play area, volleyball nets, a concession stand, and a rental stand for a variety of water sports, toys, umbrellas and chairs. The northern end of the beach is great for shelling. The entrance is located at the intersection of Spinnaker and Hernando Drives.

3.

Treat yourself to a luxurious spa experience
The Spa at Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort is surrounded by broad beaches and a calming sea. Experience the soothing effects of massage, bath, and facial treatments inspired by the island paradise of Bali. The spa also offers state-of-the-art fitness facilities, steam rooms, plunge pools, salon services, a Spa Café serving healthy fare, and a Spa Shop.

4.

Explore Rookery Bay National Estuarine Reserve
This reserve is one of the few remaining undisturbed mangrove estuaries in North America. Some 150 species of birds live here, including bald eagles, ospreys and roseate spoonbills. Explore by canoe or kayak via the Shell Point Canoe Trail for up-close wildlife observation and a chance to discover a watery maze of mangrove tunnels, mud flats, oyster beds and rookery islands.

5.

See more beaches by boat
Hideaway Beach is on Marco Island but only accessible to the public by boat. Several other great beaches are on nearby islands only a short boat ride away. These include Coconut Island, located at the mouth of the Marco River across from Hideaway Beach; Cape Romano, just south of Marco Island, and Keewaydin Island, just north of Marco off the tip of Isles of Capri. A number of tour boats and guides are available for sightseeing trips to these islands and their beaches.

6.

Visit Everglades National Park
Take an airboat ride through winding mangrove creeks and bays deep into the Everglades, where the alligators live. Also look for bears, dolphins, manatees, bald eagles, blue herons and other exciting wildlife as you enjoy this unique environment.

7.

Start – or grow – your shell collection
Marco Island is a sheller’s paradise. Plan your beach walk for low tide because more shells will be exposed. Leave live shells, taking only those that are empty. You may want to pick up a waterproof guide to identify your finds. Keep in casual and hunt on your own, or opt to join a shelling tour.

8.

Tour Marco via trolley
Take a ride in the red Marco Island Trolley to get a feel for the island. The trolley stops at major hotels and shopping areas, and you can buy a pass that allows you to exit and re-board all day. Drivers serve as tour guides and offer up information about everything local, including history, flora and fauna, as well as island restaurants and businesses.

9.

Rent a boat and get out on the water
If you like to be the captain of your own ship, rent a power boat, pontoon boat or kayak and discover the many treasures the waters around the 10,000 islands have to offer. Find quiet beaches, enjoy the natural beauty of marine life, and bring home plenty of memories.

10.

Prepare to be aMAZEd
MAZE, or the Marriott Activity Zone Experience, is an extensive program of daily activities for fun-seekers of all ages. From wine tasting for adults to finger painting and a special night out for the kids, these fun-filled choices will keep the entire family entertained. Check out current offerings when you arrive at the resort.
